About Lake Proserpine
Lake Proserpine, which is also known as Peter Faust Dam is situated 25 kilometres inland from Proserpine, which is located within Central Queensland. Proserpine is also just a short drive from Airlie Beach and Shute Harbour the gateway to the famous Whitsunday Islands and The Great Barrier Reef.
Lake Proserpine plays host to some of the biggest barramundi and sooty grunter found in impoundment's in Australia, making it the ideal sport fishing destination.
Welcome to Faust Dam Fishing Charters
The proprietor of Faust Dam Fishing Charters, Colin Slade, has always been a keen fisherman. He moved to the area in 2003 from the Hunter Valley, NSW. Colin has been hosting fishing charters for over 10 years so the challenge of large barramundi drew him to Peter Faust Dam at Proserpine like a magnet.
Renown for professional and TV personalities all chasing those trophy barramundi, Peter Faust Dam is 25 km west of the township of Proserpine and is serviced by a local commercial airport for quick access. (1hour 20 mins from Brisbane)
Colin, a qualified Cox’n now conducts his fishing charters from his imported purpose built 5.4 metre Tracker American bass boat “ICRED” which has proved ideally suited for Dam Fishing. A very fast but manoeuvrable boat for navigating the timbers on the dam.
The boat is powered by a 150hp Optimax Mercury and a Minn Kota 80 pound bow mounted electric motor.
It has two large fishing platforms for convenience and stability.
What better way to capture the metre plus barra, or sooty than under the guidance of Colin and the comfort of his great rig. Charters are for up to 6 hours pickup and delivery available.
